Speak People
Speak People is a progressive rock band from Northern California that concentrates on groove oriented, world-beat styles of music. David Kearney-Brown is an accomplished song writer and performer. He writes all of the songs performed by the band while brother James Brown produces and arranges. Glenn Saari plays drums on all of the tracks. Below is a selection of the current tracks the band is recording at their home studio. Since the group has become geographically dispersed, we have chosen to focus on recording and distributing our music over the internet. It’s great to hear that your producing again. Nice soundscape on Faith. I think it lays out well. Lead guitar on the solo and outro could use some sparkle – maybe shelf EQ boosting everything above 3.5k by 3-4db or to taste?
Kudos to James and David.
Thanks Jim. I’m not much of an engineer yet–still learning. Any tips are greatly appreciated, especially engineering tips.
james, bravo dude. i listen to them every day. your vocals on faith are awesome and the guitar riff at the end, along with the singing brings tears to my eyes. hopefully you can engineer and coproduce the rest of the songs with dave. i’ve forwarded the songs to family and friends with a note that more is on the way. thanks, glenn
Arrangements are strong. Love the Wah-Wah on Big TV as well as the falsetto chorus “I don’t know where it’s goin’, I don’t know where it’s been”. Intelligent lyrics, dynamic rhythm on “Faith”-strong lead vocal. Mix on Devil’s Mirror is great, beautifully melodic, harmonic, vocals are soulful. Drums on “Walking Away”- outstanding. Catchy rhthym and chord arrangement- nice guitar work. The lead guitar on Abraham needs to be boosted on the mix- great lyrics.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the note James. Hi’ya David. Wow man,
“That’s Me” rocks. Rhythm guitar is super strong with terrific bass and percussion backbone and a rippin’ dose of lead guitar to boot. Lyrics are intelligent. Love your vocals Dave. Snappy tune.

hey james, did you remix Faith? somehow it sounds better, more organic. let me know if you did. i listen to the tunes over and over, because they’re good! hope things are well with you.
yah, the remixes sound great! both big tv and abraham are so much more listenable, as well as faith. what did you do? less high end and more solid is all i can say. more feel and maybe a little more bass in the mix. whatever you’re doing, keep doing it. i can’t wait to hear the rest of the tunes. good job dude. i’ll be in touch. glenn
james, devil’s mirror remix sounds really good. dave’s voice is sweet and the harmonies are mixed in well. again a more organic and natural sound, which fits the attitude of our band. i see that you have designated the songs as complete, and others are still in the rough mix stage. we have a sound that is unique and inspiring to the hungry listener. hope you are well and had a happy holiday time. take care, glenn
